Hi my name is Robert Young I’m a lobstermen fishing out of Vinalhaven, Maine.
Vinalhaven is a little island 12 miles off the coast of Rockland, Maine, which takes 1hour and 15minute ferry boat ride to reach.
I’ve been fishing on Vinalhaven for 20 years.
For the past 5-6 years I have been making smoked lobster for myself and friends, and now it is time to share with the rest of you.
My smoked lobster is a speciality item, it is not made until someone would like to have some. The lobsters are caught by myself aboard the F/V MaKenzie Hannah all year round. Once the lobster are pulled out of the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean they are then steamed, pick out and placed in my own salt brine mix for 24hrs that same day. You don’t get any fresher than that. The following day the lobster is placed in the smoker with either cherry or hickory woods chips of your choice and smoked.
The lobster is placed in a jar with oil, packed in an insulated container with gel packs and shipped to your front door.
